The Czech Television tender was won by the lowest bidder, with an offer of around two-thirds the estimated cost

The four-year facility management contract for the Prague properties of public broadcaster Czech Television (ČT) has been awarded to AB Facility, according to a report on online server E15. With the original cost estimated at Kč 142 million, Facility AB beat out the other five competing companies by offering the lowest bid.

“The winning tender offer came in at almost Kč 92 million,” ČT general director Jiří Janeček said. A spokesman for public broadcaster said that as a result of this contract ČT can save up to Kč 50 million over the next four years. The other companies involved in the bidding were Skanska Facilities Management, Property and Facility Services, Zenova Services, ISS Facility Services and RPM Service CZ.

According to the Commercial Register, as of 2010 AB Facility was owned by four entities: Cyprus-based company Rhodium Investments Limited; Guernsey-based GPL Limited; Miroslav Lovas and Miroslav Tvrdý. The company’s most recently cited economic results from 2009 showed a Kč 41 million loss on sales of Kč 566 million.

ČT was established by law on Jan. 1, 1992. It has two general service broadcast channels (ČT1 and ČT2), as well as a news (ČT24) and sports (ČT4) channels available on cable and satellite services. It is funded through television license fees and limited advertising.
